I proclaimed earlier that "tacit knowledge do exist". And I believe every one agrees upon that. But true, to give an exact definition of it is almost impossible because all of us are giving it different content depending on our back ground such as working and educational back ground (computer science, engineering, law, business administration or sociology).
Terry Winograd and Fernando Flores, gives a convincing argumentation of why e.g. AI is not working because of the NATURE of tacit knowledge in their book "Understanding Computers and Cognition". They does not go into a definition of tacit knowlege because they understand that the very nature of tacit knowledge makes it probably impossible to give a common definition. I believe every single of us must give our definition for each case, but then again - how to make it operational???
