I guess my definition of conflict is rather wide. A complex adaptive system can only operate if both autonomy and connectivity can operate. This inevitably means interactions between autonomous agent. An autonomous agent must be able to operate in ways that are different from other agenst or it is not autonomous. To me , conflict is the interaction betweens differing agents seeking their own optimal place on the fitness landscape..
This leads to the paradoxical truth that there can be no peace without conflict. We cannot find our peace without autonomy, but if we maintain our autonomy, we must accept conflict as a part of life.
