Anouk,

A definite recent use case that got lots of publicity is the HP/Compaq merger. They are multinational companies (although both with their headquarters in the US) so I don't know how it fits your "international mergers and acquisition". Lots has been written about it and the dynamics of the merger have not all settled yet. It might be too big for your taste though.

As a statistician, I would proceed with caution. Which leads me to ask for a bit more details about the subject of the thesis "K transfer in international mergers and acquisisions". For example, some factors that might affect M&As themselves and indirectly the knowledge transfer are:

- Size of companies invovled
- Cultural background of these companies (or location if you want)
- Industry vertical
- Is it a consolidation or a venture into new "areas"
- ...

From the litterature perspective, M&A has received some attention from the Social Network crowd which might give a different light to the problem (i.e. from a social perspective instead of a business process).

Cheers,

Igor
