The new century is dominated by knowledge-based enterprises operating within a knowledge-driven
economy.So Knowledge management (KM) has expanded the concept and application of organisational
decision-making and now involves wider issues such as environmental scanning, environmental
interpretation and enterprise learning.I think foundation theories like Total Quality Management (TQM) need to be reviewed if we want them to play a complementary role in the development of modern organisations.
