Greetings Ron,
There are many excellent open source tools that you can use. The key question is, what functionality do you require?
- Wiki is a genre for collaborative writing
- Content management systems
- Discussion forums
- Blogs and PKM
A good place to start a search is this page, but the key to finding open source tools is knowing exactly what you will be using them for and how you will support them.
