It must be understood and no confusion must remain in our minds that IT(Information Technology)is an ebabler. And had always been. It is a means but not an end.
IN my experience and knowledge I have come to an understanding that KM is a fifth discipline of Management after marketing, finance, HR, and Strategy. Nad in a nutshell KM is a synergy of IT, HR and Business process.
IN the domain of KM we talk of creating and sharing knowledge. IT ebables this creating and sharing of knowledge. Therefore a proper and well thought strategy needs to be put in place in terms of the organizational needs and both short-term and long-term targets. All this in strict consideration of the overall organizational business process.
However, before that is done a primary introspection is imperative, in which we identify what the company in question think/considers as data, information and knowledge.
