Greetings Vikas,
KM
Is concerned with knowledge creation and sharing, it includes learning both at the individual and group levels, but goes beyond this. KM covers technology implementation, collaboration practices, intellectual capital, increasing awareness and capturing customer innovation.e-Learning
Is about increasing competencies, lowering costs, tracking compliance, assessment of (short term?) retention, mainly at an individual level using electronic delivery.On-line collaboration
Is information sharing and task completion using the internet as the main medium. This can vary from informal communities of practice to highly structured scientific experiments using expensive equipment e.g. Hubble telescope. How are they related?
Knowledge creation and sharing takes place best in a high trust collaborative environment where participants have comon interests and share a desire to explore and co-create. Some (very few) e-learning environments are designed to support this form of (community) learning. Mostly e-learning (sadly) is about efficient content delivery and scoring tests with little emphasis on peer-to-peer learning, cultivating inquiry or building cohort relationships along which knowledge can flow and information can be acted upon.Shared spaces are where these 3 approaches come together
Here are some selected links to further articles that look at the relationship(s) between KM and e-learning.
