'Management is manipulation'

I am currently studying business and management at university. This is the title of a research project I am undertaking.
I would like to hear all your view on this subject.
Everything from personal experiences of employee's and managers about how they have been or have manipulated within an organisation to what management texts say on the subject.

I would also appreciate any recomendations of reading I should do etc.
