Greetings Dina,

Here is how I see them:

KM
An approach and business strategy that seeks to leverage competitive advantage, via continous learning, agility, sustained innovation, improved collaboration and increased awareness.

BI
A systematic approach to becoming informed and staying aware of the total business environment, includes information gathering, analysis, evaluation and monitoring

CI
Monitoring of existing and potential business competitors. This may include forming profiles, sharing news, cultivating contacts, re-engineeing products, gathering articles, news releases and annual reports.

KM is the broadest in scope with both an internal and external focus, longer term horizons, a mix of process, technology and culture. BI is often concerned with industry sector drivers, macro economic conditions and the identification of discontinous (and disruptive) changes. CI is about watching known competitors, their pricing, marketing, recruiting, manufacturing and product strategies - making sense of what they are doing and where they are heading!

Hope this helps
