Hello,
I would go with an out of the box solution that is simple and lets you grow the intranet and its capabilities over time.
The danger by keeping it simple is that it becomes a patchwork later by adding more and more features that users need like publishing, newsfeeds, file library, collaboration, legacy system integration, search engines etc.
We use our own product as an intranet solution. I had used conventional Intranets before, but i have much better experience with our current solution. Our intranet handles information sharing, content mangement, document management, collaboration, concept based search and expertise profiling.
best regards,
Manfred
