Hi Prac,

Just thought I would add my two cents before we tire of this discussion.

I guess it is important to be clear as to what the concept 'God' represents in both our minds.

Is God a specific sentient being who created a vast & complex ecosystem (our universe) out of energy & spends his time now administering the comings & goings of the 6 billion lifeforms on an insiginificant planet in the lesser arm of a small galaxy (i.e. a tiny part of his/her creation)?

Or is 'God' just a catch all term given by scientists to discribe the unknown parts of their knowledge like 'what was there before the Big Bang' & 'How do you differentiate Mind, Brain & intellect?'

The reason why the former definition of God is so popular among the 70% odd part of the population is because Smart men have a vested interest keeping the concept alive & malleable to control the vast majority. (you notice, religion is very often used by politicians to explain their actions). People have promoted other ideas over the ages for their own personal gain (eg. the cosmetics industry, allopathic pharmaceutical companies, Stock analysts). Nobody has yet found a way of making money of the belief in Elves :-)

If God explains all the stuff we don't know about science, then his domain is rapidly shrinking. At one time, he supposed to be unexpected births, earthquakes etc. Today, his workload is not that heavy, he just has to handle the begining of the universe & genetics....

I have yet to see an argument on the existance of God resolved by anything other than "It depends on what you believe"

Take care,

Akhil
