Hi Prac,

Your argument goes:

Because we do not know enough about G-d we can conclude, in all probability, that G-d can exist without Man, and when Man ceases to exist, the existential question ceases to exist with Man.

The problem I see is your assumption that because we do not know enough about something, we can assume it exists without depending on man existing. The same logic would apply to the existance of Elves or Dragons. We do not know enough about either, so can we assume they exist?

Another hypothesis, I would like to present goes this way (with no offence to anyone's religion):

As long as early man accepted nature for the way it was, he did not feel the need for a God. hence cave paintings of that time only show animals & not religious images. Once man started to think he asked the question of "Why do things exist" & "If this exists, where did it come from?". Without any clear answers, he created the idea of 'GOD' or 'Gods' who were the source of all natural phenomenon.

Today, science has answered many of our questions as to the origins of natural phenomenon. Additionally, many newer religious thinkers (starting with Buddha) concluded that 'God is not in a temple, he is within us', thus negating the need to worship an external God.

It is interesting, that the most religious societies today are the ones that limit the amount of information the common people can access, so they can think for themselves.

Take care,

Akhil
