Deducing the value of intellectual capital from the financial value that was already assigned to the company seems like it is working backwards from a calculation that was already done, namely the calculation of what the company is worth based on it's intellectual assets.

If I may guess, I would say:

1. The $ value of knowledge in a company is dependent on how that knowledge is and will be shared (consider synergy) and utilized and also upon the current demand or POTENTIAL DEMAND for whatever products may be produced from that knowledge. Any formula that ignores synergy, alignment, and strategy would be short in my opinion.

2. Market value of certain individual knowledge is already established by "what does a person who knows this make".

A knowledge audit would look for intellectual value that may be overlooked, then would have to
use knowledge, not calculations to assess the $ value of knowledge based on current demand, and how that knowledge will be combined, shared and utilized. Just a guess.
