A lot of people point to some measures of worker productivity as an indicator that things have changed. I've read a number of articles that claim productivity growth (in the USA) shifted from about 1.5% per year to 2.3% per year around 1995. I couldn't find a direct source, but I did find an interesting article from the Concord Coalition that rebuts the claim that there has been a longstanding shift in productivity. Presumably, the data can be dug up at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
