Hi Maryna,

Actually there is no such thing as the "knowledge age" currently & i am assuming that the marketing consultant who created the term probably doesn't really know what it means!

Ranting aside, the way I see it, the information age was all about finding new ways to transmit information to the individual (i.e. telemedia, telecom, internet, publishing boom). At the end of this "more is better" age, we are not faced with the problem of acquiring information. We are actually faced with TOO much information, with not enough time/interest/skills to absorb it all.

The so called "knowledge age" would be focussed on making meaningful sense of all this information to enable directed action. The evolving theories of KM basically are aimed at doing just that.

There is a great book called "Information Anxiety 2" by Richard Saul Wurman that delves into this further.

Take care,

Akhil Shahani
