Hi Robbert

I understand what you are saying. To my mind one would have to acquire/device a method, which would enable knowledge transfer in a rather rapid and reliable manner.

I have developed the context-management method for this purpose, but it does not mean it would support the organizational KM goals. The nature of the information/knowledge required would still have to be specified within the KM strategic objectives and defined by the internal processes.

What I am saying is that your objectives are achievable, within the greater context of a KM-oriented organization. The information would have to serve a specific function, beyond that of serving the employee, and a greater purpose.

Bear in mind that most knowledge-capturing sessions are of a short nature. Even full-term employees contribute on a part-time basis. I don't think one would have to device a special arrangement for the latter. The sessions would ultimately equate to more-or-less the same time.

The real question I see is whether or not an organisation would be willing to pay part-time employees for the time they would spend on knowledge-capturing sessions? Such employees typically earn on an hourly basis.

Here the question of the KM strategy of the organisation surfaces again. If what these students have is regarded as so important, what commitment would the company show to ensure the organisational needs are being met?

Is the organisation prepared to put the money where the mouth is?

Regards,
