that's half the equation - the other half is the absorbtion of that information + data back into knowledge. ie - ensuring the format of the information is amenable to the recreation of knowledge, that it is accessible at time points when knowledge creation is needed, and that it is in a format that can be acted upon promptly at those points.

To only see the other half of the equation would leave you with a useless pile of information. Which in my view is the problem that a lot of technology orientated implementations have come accross. They collect information with the hope that it embodies knowledge, but they don't look at how and when that information needs to be transformed back into knowledge to be used.

I wrote an article in Knowledge Management Magazine on Dynamic Knowledge Systems this last spring - I'll post the link to a White Paper I wrote based on it in another thread - that I'd really be interested in your views on. As far as the process that KM is related to, I don't think we're that far apart!
