Akhil,
we had the same problem inour organization.. However we were able to solve it by using workflow process to our day to day engagements.. Alignment of business processes to technology with tight integration
Let me explain a little bit more..
As a consulting engineer we have specific deliverables that need to be provided to end customer within a specific time frame. we automated the work flow process right from creation of that engagements, tie templates to the deliverable for consistent look and feel and then uploading them to a common repository so that we can than extract the content based on the meta data..
Thus we had seamless way to manage the extraction of knowledge ( i.e. deliverable ) manage the knowledge itself, store in common place and then extract it via search,browse etc..Hope this helps you..
