I think the great question, still unresolved in the km realm, is whether knowledge sharing can be promoted by giving money (for istance a sum of money for each suggestion) or rather by fostering an environment of cooperation (for istance by arranging new forms of careers, by abating status symbol, by opening financial books, and so on). The first case is called estrinsic motivation, the second intrinsic. What's better for knowledge sharing? This would be a great topic for a research!
