It may be useful to have a look at systemic methodologies like MKSM (http://www.mcxapc.org/ateliers/8/mksm.htm unfortunately in French) or KADS (http://www.commonkads.uva.nl/)
they provide quite a comprehensive approach on building KM systems
they both translate into KM infrastructures.
on a more organisational perspective, "the knowledge creating company" from Nonaka and Takeuchi is a book worth reading
