Hi Cathy,
I've already sent you an email, but I'll answer here on the forum. A lot of questions revolve around what KM is exactly, and companies who sit down to develop such an initiative are often confounded by the question of KM itself. By exploring what knowledge management and IC mean in theory, which is to say, how can we wholly and logically conceptualize these concepts, if becomes possible to develop a set of practices which will lead to tangible and sought-after results. As Kurt Lewin has said, there is nothing quite so practical as a good theory. Theory predicates results, and KM and IC theory are no different. Which is not to disuage practice by any means. Which ever route an organization takes in designing a methodology, eventually something will pan out. My choice has been to work on the theoretical implications, and then see how business will respond to this. That's what I'm offering, KM and IC theory.
