Tacit knowledge resides in the individual, so capturing tacit knowledge means making it explicit, if that's what you mean. I'm working on a science of KM right now, and basically there's two aspects to it. One, knowledge is a science in and of itself that is entirely tacit, and two, km is a science entirely explicit. And together, these two elements function to make tacit knowledge explicit (if you follow my drift).

So from my perspective, when we ask 'how do we capture tacit knowledge'is exactly the same as saying 'how do we implement km', because in effect KM capture knowledge and sends it thru the pipe, allowing the organisation to dissemininate and power products and services.
