The essentials for success in any e-business appliation rests on speed and accuracy of completion of a transaction which requires proper management of the suppliers and customer chains. Knowledge management is an essential component in managing these chains.

The macro level chain for any e-business applicaiton would be

Supplier chain management -- knowledge management -- Customer relationship management.

Proper management of suppliers would ensure low cost and early shipment of goods and services to the customers to satisfy customer needs, essential for repeat orders. At the same time proper management of the customer base would ensure prioritising the customers in terms of their needs and addressing them adequately.
