Interesting question. Perhaps KM helps in these areas:
- Learning of and from customers - building profiles to charatize latent needs, collaborating with customers to surface new inventions and gather product adaptations
- Speeding internal decision cycles and improving learning - gathering and recording lessons learned
- Faster responses, improved innovation and greater awareness - open discussion and sharing of market intelligence and competitor monitoring
- Lower cost experimentation - monitoring and evaluation of business decisions in real time using web technology
- Capturing and analysis of realtime and JIT logistics, shortening the supply chain and lowering inventory holdings
The key opportunities I believe are greater learning, wider innovation, improved competitive and market intelligence, new advances in agent technologies in B2B and B2C logistics and relationship management.
