Hi Martyn,

I dont know if you are refering to Compaq & HP....

however, I guess in the IT industry, takeovers of smaller companies by larger ones, tend to be a key strategy for growth. (think Computer Associates, IBM etc.)

If the key aim in the takeover is to acquire strategic technology, more than access to distribution network or other business assets, then clashing cultures may not be such a huge issue.

Possibly the fact that the acquired company is smaller & is not old enough to have a well entrenched culture may help. then again, in the IT industry, successful firms HAVE to be used to adapting to frequent changes.....
