Pay the employees for the value their knowledge adds. Grow employees to satisfy their need to know. Ask employees for their knowledge. Respect employees for their knowledge. Take responsibility for giving employees tasks their brains and knowledge are well suited for.

The factor I am referring to is called Culture.

Satisfied people produce higher quality work, hence productivity should increase.
