I find your comments very comforting and confirming why I like to participate here.
I found some tendancy in some of the confences at the Knowledge Ecology Fair to be of the opinion that if you wern't going to use perfect ecolgy science in your metaphor you were on a lower plane.
Living in the hills of Tennessee in the midst of a large scientific influence (Oak Ridge National Lab) I am amazed how some of my best enlightenments on Knowledge have come with encounter with some of the plain mountain folks. I have come to the conclusion its because they take the time to tell you a story from which they will make their point. This in turn has convinced of the importance of this shared meaning concept we discuss.
