I agree with the others.
Knowledge Management is hype, but it's also here to stay. Knowledge Management has been going on for a number of years. Only now, when the trade press seem to pick up on the idea of knowledge management as some form of IT orientated process, they take it out of context - relating that by spending more on IT products, and specifically "knowledge management" products, they will gain a competitive advantage. In my opinion, it is just a passing "fad". But remember, JIT was also a passign fad, and many companies, Dell for example, implemented these ideas and still use them today.
Indeed Knowledge Management is here to stay, but what is knowledge? As with beauty, knowledge, and therefore the management of knowledge, is in the eye of the beholder.
