You are aware that 90% of startup companies adapt 2 to 3 times before they find the right business model. Also that effective commercialisation of new knowledge currently rates between 6 and 10% worldwide of total new knowledge.
Also from my own interviews with CEO's MD's and venture capitalists I have found that most success is achieved through the specific and specialised knowledge (skills) of individual people.

In short we do not learn from others mistakes and fail to understand the reasons for success. In a meeting of top clients of a worldwide bank it was learned that the bank had no idea why certain companies were successfull, they called the meeting to try and find out.

We say that KM has been around for years, I suppose it has, but it has been conducted in a casual way rather than a purposfull way. Latest efforts in Km are trying to analyse effective means of knowledge creation and gathering so we can duplicate the successes and minimise the failures.

I dont think that this is hype, nor do I think it is unachievable, I do think that a successfull KM project is dependant on the attitude of those who participate. ie As the oxpofd dictionary describes "attitude" it is "the position of the mind prior to an action or reaction".

"If you think it is so then so shall it be"
