In Reply to: Are 'Knowledge' and its 'Management' Becoming Less Relevant? posted by Jefferey Bridges on December 17, 2001 at 10:47:11:
Hi Jeffrey,
I absolutely agree that the concepts of learning, knowledge and management are not becoming less relevant. They've always been here and they will go on in the future...The problem is to understand if the present practices are effective, which ones are effective and when..The problem is to understand when you need to turn on your computer and when you should turn it off...I think a main duty of this place is to search, with your practical experience and knowledge, further understanding of the problem. A firm can't understand the reason of its failure if we first are not sure about KM practice. Do you think that all the firms now unhappy arranged their KM structure without thinking, without calling consultants and so on? I don't think so, they're not foolish. Nearly everybody called a consultant, read Nonaka's work, planned actions and accounting with their staff and the consultants themselves...The problem, as a matter of fact, is not lack of planning and evaluation, but lack of basis between consultants, universities, researches...
Regards, Gianluca
