hi Adi Babu, you sound quite astute. Well, First of all there's no clear definition about BPR...Tell me: what's BPR? So far it's been used to describe delayering, downsizing, outsourcing, empowerment, SAP, and so on. I don't mean all these projects were unsuccessful. Many of them had their impact, but do we need all these "college-guys" (Note I'm one of them, I'm a servant of nobody, just a free thinker) bearing some strange label for a pout-pourry of strategies unrelating and packaged by some clever consultancy firms? Why can't a firm think using the brains of their people? Ok, let's start this way: what do you think BPR is and why Can it be successful? Please don't send me references? Use you brain (I'm sure you're really clever). Of course all depends of your definition of success. If success is to lay off people just to strenght the power of big guys (who are tipically the drivers of these fantastic restructurations) then BPR has been highly successful...My definition of success is a SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE, not just cutting costs to pay consultants during and after the bright action.
Hope it doesn't hurt
(Have you heard the guy above about business' social responsibility? How woul you call him if I'm a revolutionary? Che Guevara? Sorry for the irony, but I do think that only with a sound conflict we can get all the question survive and get a further step. I like everybody, but above all I like to understand..
Bye for now
