I agree. I believe you've hit on a very key point. Communication can lead to 'balance' or 'harmony' between opposing points of view, or opposing purposes. I was thinking about this very subject, how it (KM) all comes down to communication. I believe the 'quality' of the communication, the degree to which it is successful, is actually the fundamental dynamic of knowledge management. Communication allows 'transformations' to take place, whether it be from an idea to an ideal, or from a problem to a resolution. And these transformations fuel the 'change' necessary for business success. All successful transformations in business ultimately involve moving from knowledge(active state) to management(reactive state), or management(reactive state) to knowledge (active state). Microsoft's transformation to an internet based company from a software based company is a good example of reactive to active.
