Soumya,

Here are some suggestions:

Karl Weick, 2001, "Making sense of the organization", Chapter 11 (organizational mind), 13 (organizations as cognitive maps), 16 (the attitude of wisdom)

Phillipe Baumard, 1999, "Tacit knowledge in Organizations" read the case studies on Quantas, Indigo, Indsosuez and Pechiney. This will give you a good grasp of the extent and working of distributed knowledge.

Edwin Hutchins, 1996 "Cognition in the wild". His ethnographical study & story of naval navigation practice is a classic.

Not sure will you will find an awful lot under the title of distributed knowledge look for concepts around: distributed cognition, tacit co-ordination, shared meaning, virtual spaces and corporate memory / brain stuff. There is a growing literature on digital libraries & the semantic web that may be applicable here.

Good luck with your studies
