I personally believe KM started back in caveman days when man (or woman) drew pictures on the cave wall to record what happened. Was able to duplicate the manufacture of fire and transfer that knowledge to others.
Others would say the great library of Alexandria marked the beginning. Still others would say the beginning of databases marked Km birth.
Depending on your point of interest the origin is where it started to provide relevance as a methodology to your practice or what you determine is the definition of KM.
Quite philosophical I know but might spark some interest.
