Here's a more targeted question, Denham:
"Yellow pages and personal directories are considered KM projects with the highest ROI and the fastest returns (Davenport)."
This quote from your very helpful notes on yellow pages references Davenport without any specifics. Do you happen to remember where Davenport talks about this? Maybe this would be a good place for me to get a concise overview of this topic in KM?
Here's another question (please forgive my uninformed inquisitive mine):
Do you believe that KM is a strong growth industry at this point in time?
[I know that a couple years ago KM was predicted to become the next big wave in consulting, but has that really happened? I haven't worked directly with KM in 3 years, but it seems to me that it hasn't lived up to its promise: 1) because knowledgebases are expensive to develop and hard to maintain, 2) because they are not utilized as much as they should be to provide a good ROI, 3) because when budgets get cut as they are in today's economy the KM budget is the first to go. For these reasons, I did not pursue KM for the last 3 years. Now, I've stumbled back into it and find myself once again fascinated by the possibilities.]
