Thanks very much for the references and reflections, Denham. I considered the question your follow-up message addressed: whether to store the personnel profiles as webpages or to use a more conventional database approach. I've got more questions about that too, but first I have to read through some of the background information you pointed me too.

But my original question was more directed at how to acquire the data than how to store it. The sponsor of this project wanted to perform in-depth interviews to capture the intellectual capital of his employees. So I wondered if this was the standard way to get this type of information, and if it has been done this way often enough, perhaps someone had already created a questionnaire to guide the in-depth interview -- something that I could get some ideas from and customize to meet the needs of his organization. Do you have any knowledge of such interview templates or questionnaires? Or any howto information about what knowledge to elicit and how to best acquire it from the employees?

I am also very interested in the intellectual context or background that motivates this specific endeavor, which I believe I may have found, thanks to you, in Karen Stephensen's informal networks. But I haven't read enough about that yet to know for sure. I just wanted to re-direct my original question to you while I was reading.

Thanks again for your extremely helpful comments!!

Dave
