Hi Mike,

It might be easy to focus on why YOU want to start a KM intitiative in your own company. is it because the concept appeals to you, or do you have specific problems in your job that you feel it would solve.

without me making assumptions on your position in your company, You would definitely have a better handle on problems you have faced than assuming what bothers the 'higher ups'. get allies in your company who are facing the same problems, create a proposal to solve it & THEN represent it to the bosses.

nothing succeeds like success. once you have implemented & demonstrated the benefits of KM in solving your own problems, it would be easier to justify a company wide inititative.
