I had been pondering this thought for a while, but I am delighted to see it here. May I add, focus on the performance outcomes in terms of business deliverables that you expect to deliver and then work backwards to tie up the inputs and resources needed in terms of people, processes and technologies. Sticking the KM-label does not necessarily make or break a KM practice - it depends on how the people, processes and technologies are combined, implemented and executed to deliver the results that your organization cares about, regardless of the label.
If necessary, use the buzzwords and hot buttons that may help you make the business case, but keep your [and everyone's] eye on the ball as regardless of the labels, performance outcomes do matter.
Best of luck and please keep us posted about how it goes. Would love to hear from you as would many others on this forum.
