Can you tell us a bit more about the Intranet efforts that your co' is undertaking? Some Intranets can be core to an overall KM effort (i.e. those Intranets that allow collaboration, sharing of best practices, contribution of information etc.)
If your Intranet is publishing only (i.e. only things that come through a central clearinghouse/web master facility), then you may want to begin by pointing out the obvious collaboration/knowledge sharing/efficiency opportunities that are being missed.
