those technicians that designed, developped and build the engine of the car I drive in (a beautifull Copperleaf Red Rover 75, by the way, but that's not the issue here), I really hope they have focused on the technical capabilities, such as performance, reliability and safety.

developing a new car is, like all developments of technological applications, a mutual effort, of both technologically competent people, and people with other competencies, such as design, marketing, production, sales, ...

In IT projects, however, we expect the technicians to have incorporated all competencies. I respectfully disagree with that view. I don't see the use of sending IT/IS people to a business school.

Make the business people join the IT projects, that's my solution. Let the technicians be responsible for the technics. IT projects fail when the IT people have to make business decisions.
