The question is indeed thought provoking.
As a consultant with over 7 years, three years of which I have spent working with a Fortune 500 client, I can empathize with the need to have a KM system guiding the “operations” including IS and IT. I have been involved in building a few Knowledge systems myself.
The solution is straightforward – build a Knowledge Database. However, it is easier said than done. Building a “Knowledge Database” is not rocket science. However, the real issues come when one has to maintain/update and use the database.
