The answer to your question - it depends what you are looking for...

For example, our technology (Simplify) was used to build a knowledge sharing environment for a community of 15000 researchers at a large international organization. They were looking primarily for better access to information and the ability of individuals to contribute information, discuss findings, find each other etc.
