Hello Denham,

Many thanks for the reply.

What I tried to highlight was the apparent inability of many organizations to grasp pretty straightforward notions and techniques of decision support in the form of data warehousing (Information Management) with the apparent ease with which some people claim that corporations could assume various classes of KM.

As for one angle of Accentures take on IM and Decision Support, I always get the feeling that Davenport and Co are quite well aligned with the "incarnation of the holistically frame-worked endemic epidemic consulting academic class" of Hello Magazine.

In the area of IM and, for example, data warehousing, I think a little less PR and a little more “how to” and the collected why and wherefore of how-to, would be more appropriate from professional IM/KM consultants than this sidelining nonsense that sells consulting, software and big-iron but doesn’t really solve too much, and in a much poorer fashion than the likes of professional journalists, such as Thomas A. Stewart, who seem to be able to capture and convey the essence of the subjects without getting their personality and ego mixed up with the content.

SO, any ideas on how to get companies to IM fluency without to much pain, suffering and loss – apart from draconian imposition that is?

Best regards,

Martyn
