You are right we are probably not in agreeement. I have spent a day thinking on you post and I cannnot get myself comfortable on the concept of the existence of intellectual capital without some level of a knowledge process. Anything worthy of being called "intellectual Capital" has to be created by a knowledge process; therefore, at least one individual is aware that it exist. another individual trying to "take inventory" of intellectual capital may not know that this individual or individuals of the original knowledge process exist, but they do exist even if they are currently inactive. If the information artificacts of the original knowledge process are "rich" enough then they may rekindle a similar knowledge process within a new group of individual and therefore once again you have intellectual capital as the result of a knowledge process. Knowledge management becomes the making explicit the practices that most likely produce these outcomes.
