I wish all classical theories were also common sense theories, but unfortunately. I wholly agree with your way of putting how reality translates into consciousness, however I disagree about muffling the central paradox of social versus physical reality under a ‘meta’ reality. How do you see that happening? Are they both social or both physical suddenly?

That is why I suggest looking at what classical theories may have in store for km: they deal with this duality in more practical, predicting ways. For example: Leon Festinger, a classical social psychologist, who came up with the distinction of social vs. physical reality, also invented the theory of cognitive dissonance and of post-decision dissonance reduction, both in individuals and in groups, for which there is a lot of researched evidence. Also it appeals directly to common sense, for social reality and physical reality is what we all know from experience.

Isn’t it true that everybody’s favorite classical philosopher or scientist has come up with a practical answer, or theory, for this duality of the social vs. the physical? Otherwise they would never have become popular, or at best at the one or the other side of the scale.

Best regards,
Ron dW
