Hi Coco,
As the research of Maister shows (see the contribution of Chris) there is a statistical relationship (positive corelation) between employee satisfaction and profit.
What the statistics do not answer is:
Do satisfied employees (via increased productivity) contribute to higher profitability of the organisation?
OR....
Are employees of profitable/succesfull organisations happier and more satisfied, since they have higher bonuses/saleries and it just feels good to be part of the winning team?
IMHO this is NOT a chicken/egg problem.
