thank you very nuch for your input. My probleme is that I am looking at it from a non-technical perspective and I am finding it difficult to put everything in little boxes ( so to speak!), hence this exercise.
The way I see it, the best way to start is to identify each "level", what goes in each, and then see how they relate to each other. It would then - in theory at least - become a lot easier to evaluate the plethora of products out there.

with regards to your comments on non-technology factors, I totally agree with you in that they are just as - if not more - important to ensure a successful KM implementation. I see them as the environment in which the technology is incorporated. However I am not certain at this stage on how it would be incorporated in the technology model itself.
