Hello,
I believe tha CIO (who should also be the CKO, here we go blurring the already overlapping "edges" between knowledge and information again) should be a member of the board, reporting to the CEO and the shareholders.
Now the description of the ideal CIO in my view, does not always match current business perception of the roles and responsibilities of the CIO or their major areas of attention ...
I would see the following (roles and responsibilities - not neccesarily all different people) reporting to a CIO:
- Head of IT
- Head of Application Services
- Head of internal Business Services and Consulting
- Head of Information Management
- Head of Knowledge Management
- Head of Infrastructure Support and Services
etc.
- etc.I would like to elaborate on that point, and if it is of some interest then I'm sure we will get more input.
Regards,
Martyn R Jones
