I always saw my job as a manager as helping to reconcile the requirements of the job and what a person genuinely wants to do. With highly motivated and creative people is challenge of management is a personally gratifying experience. It's one of the intrinsic rewards for the manager.
Thanks for the references. I'm prompted to make the time to read March's work, something I have too long delayed.
