For me, knowledge is one of those words that eclipse all the contradistinctions we deal with on a day to day basis. Other words include God, Quality, Tao, etc etc.

So using this as a presupposition, knowledge is the basis of everything and is, therefore, shared equally by all. But stuff shared equally by all is of no 'value' to the business world in and of itself. Without value, business would cease to operate, because noone would be put in a position to have to buy anything. Therefore, KM in the business will ultimately be just another tool to create and measure knowledge as a 'value' which in turn can be resold and turned into profit.

Which is why, even though I have a solution to the problem, it always struck me as odd that we've been attempting to measure knowledge as a form of intellectual capital. Its so oblique,
